Secondary afterburners with 2-second residence times at 1,100°C ensure dioxins and furans are thermally decomposed before emission — a critical benchmark under the Stockholm Convention guidelines that many developing nations have ratified.
Cost is often the decisive factor. A single-chamber unit capable of processing 30–50 kg per hour can be procured and installed for a fraction of the recurring annual expenditure on third-party haulage contracts — assuming such services exist at all. For health ministries managing constrained budgets, the arithmetic increasingly favors ownership over outsourcing.
Bridging the infrastructure gap is not simply about delivering hardware. It requires training local operators in combustion management, ash handling protocols, and basic emissions monitoring. When paired with modest capacity-building programs, on-site medical waste incineration offers a scalable, self-reliant pathway toward safer healthcare environments in the regions that need them most.
